Anthony Charles “Charlie” Thompson, 87, of Humboldt died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
He was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Moran, to Anthony Wayne and Jessie (Rose) Thompson. He graduated from Kincaid High School in 1941.
On Nov. 9, 1987, he married Elsie Mae Fraser.
He was an electrical worker for the City of Iola until his retirement.
Along with his wife Elsie, he is survived by his children, Debbie Thompson and Steve Thompson; stepchildren, Ralph Romig, Houston, Texas, Phyllis Zorn, Enid, Okla., and Karen Smith, Ozark, Mo.: six grandchildren, Jennifer Romig, Matthew Romig, Miranda Bowman, Benjamin Zorn, Brenden Smith and Trevor Smith; one great-grandchild, Noah Romig; a brother, Edward, Apple Valley, Calif.; and two sisters, Sylvia Wools, Moran, and Myrtle Mae Sharp, Annandale, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne, and four sisters, Geniveive Hawley, Mildred Kimsey, Esther Nickels and Matilda Holeman.
Funeral services were this morning at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Mildred.
